Olivia Munn Auditions

INT. AN AUDITIONING ROOM

DIRECTOR
Hi, Olivia! Thanks for coming in. So we love your work on “Newsroom” and we’d love to see you in this movie.

OLIVIA
Thanks.

DIRECTOR
So you have the sides there. Just whenever your ready. You’ll be reading with Ronald.

RONALD.
Hi!

DIRECTOR
So he will be reading Sam and you are Sally.

OLIVIA
Okay.

DIRECTOR
Whenever you’re ready.

RONALD.
Why are you leaving me?

OLIVIA
(deadpan, no emotion) I don’t love you anymore.

RONALD.
This can’t be over.

OLIVIA
(even more deadpan) It. Is. You should accept that.

DIRECTOR
And cut.

OLIVIA
Can I go?

DIRECTOR
Okay, not yet. Okay, that was great, but this is a really heightened scene. Your husband is devastated that you’re leaving him, and you may or may not want him to stay. So you, yourself are also really distraught.

OLIVIA
K.

DIRECTOR
Okay great, let’s try it again. Action!

RONALD.
Why are you leaving me?

OLIVIA
(deadpan, no emotion) No. Love.

RONALD.
This can’t be over.

OLIVIA
(even more deadpan) Yup.

DIRECTOR
And cut......okay, I love improv, but I’d love for you to stick with the lines.

OLIVIA
I did what you asked.

DIRECTOR
Okay, so if the improv helps with your emotional vulnerability great, but that seemed really similar to the first take.

OLIVIA
What?

DIRECTOR
I just want to see this complex character through your eyes.

OLIVIA
K.

DIRECTOR
Great, Ronald!

OLIVA
I need to leave soon.

DIRECTOR
And action!!!

RONALD.
Why are you leaving me?

Olivia says nothing, she just stares at him.

RONALD. (CONT’D)
This can’t be over.

Olivia looks at her blackberry.

OLIVA
Fuck off!

DIRECTOR
And cut! Okay, thanks for coming in!

OLIVIA
It’s called acting. Figure it out. Let’s go get a drink Ronald.

Olivia leaves, Ronald follows behind her quickly.

End.
